The Joy Player differs from other music playing devices on the commercial market and from the National Library Service's Digital Talking Book Player because it is designed to accommodate individuals who have limited hand use because of motor impairment, and cognitive disability, in addition to a visual impairment. The SLK includes a personal music player routine that can be performed with any switch-adapted music player. The product was conceived and designed at the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) during the development of the Sensory Learning Kit (SLK). The Joy Player is a personal electronic device that allows individuals with visual and multiple impairments to access music and audio books.
